Bladerunner has it about rightThe day and night scenes in Bladerunner portrays an effectively polluted and bleak imagery, with Japanese being the second language, along with Jap floating airship ads and similar. Or go the multiverse way and look at how the future is portrayed in 'Brazil', and their retro clothes and odd computers. P |

I certainly think there could be a stark, bleak quality to areas of he larger cities, but I'm not sure that things would have progressed as far as bladerunner/brazil type future by 2018. Equally, there might be some really beautiful areas such as parks and public amenities. How about a much bigger divide between the rich and the poor, seen in the condition of districts/levels of investment in infrastructure and amenities etc....
Definitely agree with the computer comment though, looking at the speed of technological advancement, especially in computing and telecoms.
